Known for her vibrant women’s label Mayka, Egyptian designer May Orfy brings her signature flair to the latest eyewear collaboration with Doctor M. We caught up with May to hear more about the inspiration behind the designs and the personal stories woven into each pair.

Doctor M: How would you describe the personality of each pair of frames?
May: DELILAH is confident, worldly, and warm. She’s the dinner party queen!
MILA is sentimental, soulful, and artistic. She’s got stories to tell.
LEILA is wild, rebellious, and unapologetically bold.
PALOMA is graceful, dreamy, and quietly powerful.
KAIA is playful, stylish, and always ahead of the curve.

Doctor M: How would you style each frame with outfits from your own collections?
May: DELILAH does all the talking so it pairs beautifully with minimal, classic outfits in muted tones.

KAIA works best with bold prints and exaggerated silhouettes, like oversized sleeves or a statement co-ord.
PALOMA is made for romantic looks, like ruffled dresses, pastels, and soft details.
LEILA was born to be worn with black-on-black, layered looks. Just add a red lip and boots for a dramatic flair.
MILA is for the boho fashion: flowy fabrics, earthy tones, vintage textures. It’s all about effortless cool.

Doctor M: Where do you draw inspiration from?
May: My grandmother was my first style icon. She worked in antiques, traveled to Paris, and always dressed with such elegance. I still have her jewelry box filled with vintage costume pieces. I go through it all the time and somehow always find something that feels current. Growing up in Egypt, I didn’t see many people in fashion who looked like me. That created a bit of imposter syndrome at first, but now it fuels me.

Doctor M: What made this collaboration with Doctor M so special?
May: The creative freedom. Working with Trice through Doctor M gave me the space to be myself. Choosing the shapes, lenses, and those little details like the metal eyelets and gold pearls that make each frame unique. It’s rare to find a partner that truly gets your vision. I think this collection shows what can happen when fashion is personal.
